Newark 1988

Newark 1988 , originally uploaded by Kinorama.

A rare image of Mr. Clyde Randall caught in action taking some measurements of the Newark Urban Instalation exhibit.

Back in 1988 The American National Standard and FBC teamed up and sent an advance team of Mr. Randall and Mr. Porter who constructed a life size scale replica of an entire city block of Newark New Jersey out in the Utah Desert.

It took the team 3 years to complete the project, but here she is. The hardest part was finding the chromatic matches of the faded 19601~1976 color pallets used in the recreation.

Reports are in from the American National Standard field expedition to Lower Gotham to visit the FBC experimental chamber known as the "Hothouse". The Lee Hiway sound Department sent their crack technician Ed Porter to instal and calibrate 1982 dynamator. The FBC film crew made a little document of that event.
